About SunnyBill
Free, privacy-first tools that help freelancers and small businesses get paid and understand their taxes.
What we do
SunnyBill is a free toolkit for independent workers. Create and download professional invoices, quotes, and receipts, and use our calculators to understand self-employment taxes and what to charge as a 1099 contractor. Everything runs in your browser - there is no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how much you use it.
What makes a SunnyBill page worth publishing
We do not want the site to feel like a pile of generated calculator pages. Our standard is simple: a page should either help you complete a real task, understand the math behind a money decision, or avoid a billing mistake that would slow down payment. During our current content overhaul, we are replacing generic FAQ endings with examples, checklists, formulas, source notes, and field-by-field guides.
Who it's for
We build for US freelancers, contractors, consultants, and small service businesses - the people who invoice clients directly and handle their own taxes. Our tools also support other currencies and regions, but our content and defaults focus on the US 1099 freelancer.
How we think about privacy
Your invoice data and the numbers you type into our calculators are processed entirely in your browser and stored only in your own device's local storage. We never upload your business or client details to a server. You can clear everything any time. Read more in our privacy policy.
How we review money and tax content
Tax and paycheck pages are reviewed against primary sources first: IRS pages and forms for US federal tax, the Social Security Administration for wage-base figures, and official government sources for VAT/GST topics. Pages that rely on changing numbers show a tax year, update date, methodology link, or source section so the assumptions are visible.
We also separate calculators from advice. A calculator can show the formula, assumptions, and likely result; it cannot decide how a rule applies to every personal situation. For filing, legal, or accounting decisions, we point users back to a qualified professional.
How we keep the tools free
We plan to support the site with clearly labeled display advertising placed around our educational content - never inside the tools themselves and never in a way that interferes with the form or the download button. The tools stay free and require no account.
A note on accuracy
Our tax calculators use published figures for the current US tax year and show their full breakdown so you can see the math. They are educational estimates, not tax, legal, or accounting advice. For important decisions, please consult a qualified professional. See our disclaimer.
Corrections and update cadence
We review core tax constants when annual IRS and SSA updates are published, and we update regional invoice pages when the underlying VAT or GST assumptions change. If you find an outdated number or confusing explanation, contact us with the page URL and the source we should compare it against.
